After moving to New York several years ago, I was struck by the paradox of bustling crowds and the pervasive sense of indifference, which led me to start reflecting on the concept of urban isolation. Despite being surrounded by millions of people, individuals can feel profoundly disconnected. I used windows and glass as physical barriers, creating a visual metaphor for the psychological separation between individuals with the reflections further fragmenting the scene, distorting the perspective and intensifying the sense of alienation. The light and shadow form another layer of physical division dividing spaces and enhancing the isolation by creating physical separations that mirror the emotional distance between people and their environment.
